Keep It Reel

"Keep It Reel" is a "The Right Tools" quest that unlocks the Fishing Rod. Starting the quest requires friendship level 3 with Badtz-maru.

"Learn how to fish with Badtz-maru."

Quest Information

Badtz-maru talks to the player about the fish on the island. Then, he gives the player the crafting plans for the Fishing Rod.

Crafting the Fishing Rod requires 10 Sticks, 3 Threads, and 1 Gizmo. After finding all of the materials, the player can craft the Fishing Rod at Chococat's crafting table, near the Resort Gate in Seaside Resort.

Then, the player meets up with Badtz-maru at the end of the Resort Docks. He will give the player a quick tutorial on how to fish. The player must then catch a single fish off of the end of the dock. It is easier to catch a fish during this quest than it normally is.

After a fish is caught, Badtz-maru congratulates the player and suggests that they try to catch all fish on the island.

Basic Fishing Tips

1. When catching a fish, try to keep the indicator on the fishing bar in the green area. 2. You want the indicator on the fishing bar to not cross over the white line because the fish will pull hard directly afterwards. 3. Use a combination of tapping and holding the screen or controller button to keep the indicator arrow controlled. 4. If fish are not biting, putting food on the hook as bait can help encourage them to do so.
