Keroppi helps you learn how to catch creatures and restore the Nature Preserve: a place to rescue critters from all across the island. He also helps in many ways to return the island to its former glory. When speaking to Keroppi, the player can trade-in 
Friendship Beads to obtain special furniture.
Personality
"Keroppi has a caring heart and loves the island! He takes it upon himself to restore the land's natural beauty and gets all his friends to help. From restoring an old Nature Preserve, to caring for critters, to cleaning up litter in the reef, Keroppi travels the island leaving everything better than he found it." — Keroppi's character page on the official Hello Kitty Island Adventure website
Keroppi is an extremely empathetic person. He can sense when something is troubling someone and is always ready to help, but he also knows how to wait until they want his help. He is so good at understanding others that he can even understand the fish and critters if he tries. He likes to help the player form deeper friendships with others.
Gifts
The player can give Keroppi up to three gifts per day, which will raise his friendship with the player. Players will receive 
Sugarkelp as a reward for each gift given to Keroppi. The amount received depends on the value of the gift and the closeness of the friendship.
If the player has reached maximum friendship level with Keroppi, they will receive his Character Gift Box 
for each gift given or quest completed.
